Edward Gregson is a composer, conductor and music educator born in England in 1945. His compositions include pieces for orchestra, brass band, wind ensemble and choir, as well as works for television, film, and theatre. He has composed concertos for numerous instruments.
Tuba Concerto is dedicated to John Fletcher, who was one of the most proficient tuba players in Britain at the time of its writing. It was originally composed for solo tuba with brass band accompaniment, and the accompaniment was later arranged for orchestra, wind ensemble and piano. The original work premiered on April 24th 1976 with the composer conducting.

A narration of an eternal love.
In the dark forest with no sound or light or smoke a boy walks from behind the bushes with a young maiden accompanying him. He leads her past the willow grove. The boy gives the girl the chance to leave him if their relationship and love would cause her shame or disgrace. The maiden assures that their love is stronger than steel and iron, a love that will stay forever. |

After many years of his retirement from opera composition, Rossini created 'Petite Messe Solennelle' which he expressed it as his final mortal sin of his old age. He left a note at the end of the composition "I was born for opera buffa as you well know! Little technique, a little heart, that is all. So be Thou blessed and grant me Paradise"
Originally composed for 2 pianos, 4 soloists, and 8 chorus members. Rossini then composed a version to be accompanied by orchestra too.
Agnus Dei is the last piece of the work composed for Alto solo. |

The C minor Toccata is one of seven toccatas in Bach’s earlier explorations of the toccata form, where articulation and touch are often explored in a variety of ways. The toccata begins in an introductory sequence of rhapsodic and improvisatory passages and then it travels into an adagio movement and eventually finishes with a double fugue with a toe-tapping subject.
