Partita BWV1013Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 - 1750)
        1. Allemande 2. Corrente 3. Sarabande 4. Bouree Anglais
Wil Rigby, Flute
This is Bach's only work for solo flute and was written somewhere betweem 1717 and 1723 which is about when he became familiar with the transverse flute. The Allemande is noticeable in itself as it ends on a high A, a note at the limit of what the transverse flute could reliably play.

Sarah Bouquet, Piano
The Études-Tableaux ("study pictures"), Op. 33, is the first of two sets of piano études composed by Sergei Rachmaninoff. They were intended to be "picture pieces", essentially "musical evocations of external visual stimuli"

Duet in F, BWV803Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 - 1750)

Katniss Li, Piano
Bach’s four duets were among the very few collections he had published during his lifetime. These are for one player, with two-voice counterpoint.

Eight Improvisations on Hungarian Peasant Songs, Op.20Bela Bartok (1881 - 1945)
        I - V
Katniss Li, Piano
This composition is the last one on which Bartók put an Opus number because henceforth he would treat his folk music and his more artistic side as equal. However, this work is far from his folk pieces, with its abrasive harmonies and rhythms.

Sonata in F major, k. 280Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 - 1791)
        1. Allegro assai 2. Adagio 3. Presto
Anna Gao, Piano
The first movement of the sonata is in sonata form The second movement is a siciliana, a baroque form usually in a minor key written in a slow 6/8 or 12/8 time with lilting rhythms, making it somewhat resemble a slow jig or tarantella. This is a form which Mozart would later revisit in the slow movement of his A major piano concerto (K.488). The sonata ends with a presto (sonata form) in F major.
