Bach Cello Suite 4 in Eb major, BMV 1010 | J.S Bach (1685 - 1750) | 4 | 11:56 |
Prelude | |||
Vicky Deng, Cello | |||
Bach's six cello suites are undoubtedly one of the most renowned works in cello repertoire. Suite number 4 in Eb major was composed sometime between 1717-1723. The key signature of Eb creates a grand and stately character. The prelude is structured upon stoic sounding chord progressions and arpeggios. Through the music the bass line and melody has been delineated, creating a layered texture. Bach unexpectedly incorporates a "cadenza"-like passage in the middle of the piece which has a rhapsodic flourish. | |||
